CULTURAL PROFILE OF MONTERREY

In the late nineteenth and early twentieth century an important cultural promotion took place in Monterrey. Modern theatres, universities, arts venues, and public spaces were constructed to house influential performances by international artists. This cultural importance developed at the same time as the city was entering a stage of rapid industrialization.

To this day, the city of Monterrey remains in constant transformation. There are new museums, galleries, and art centers making the city one of the most important cultural destinations in all of Latin America. This focus on culture has given way to the permanent presence of artists at the local, national, and international level with diverse exhibitions of different genres.
